December 2010 DevotionalGod's Provision for the Protection of Life
When Almighty God established human government His obvious motive was to protect the lives and liberties of His created beings. He goes so far as to call governmental officials “the minister of God to thee for good.” This divine directive obligates all branches of government, be it Executive, Legislative, and especially Judicial, to establish as their number one priority the protection of human life. Our Founders were well aware of this Biblical mandate when they penned the founding documents of the nation. They boldly declared in the Declaration of Independence the self-evident truth that “all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights,” the very first of these is life.
From that glorious beginning until January of 1973, the protection of human life at every stage of development was a national priority. The destruction of the life of an unborn child was considered not only a despicable, but also a criminal act. Virtually every state had laws prohibiting capricious abortions, and those who performed this procedure were considered social outcasts and enemies of humanity. All this was swept away in the infamous Roe versus Wade decision of the U.S. Supreme Court, which by judicial fiat declared the unborn child a non-person, not unlike the Dred Scott decision 120 years before declared the African slave to be sub-human. Is it not ironic that the death of over 55 million of our fellow citizens, though yet unborn, is the result of a lawsuit based upon a lie? Through her own confession, Norma McCorvey, the plaintiff in the case has admitted that her entire case was based upon a fabricated story that was completely false. I believe the time has come to demand of our elected officials the repeal of this monstrous perversion of justice and ghastly blot upon the honor of our great nation.

Romans 13:3-4. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil…For he is the minister of God to thee for good…a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.
The Founders wisely placed the ultimate power of government in the hands of the people. That, my friend, is you and I. We hold the key to making right this horrible wrong. The Congress of the United States has the constitutional authority to nullify Roe versus Wade. Such a bill has been pending before congress for some time, known as the Life at Conception Act. Were the Bible believing churches of the nation to rise up and petition Congress to pass this vital legislation, I believe that effort would bear fruit, especially in the present political climate. This bill affirms what every Bible believer understands, that life begins at the very moment of conception. The time has come to return government to the role of the protector of life. Friend, do you care enough to stand in the gap? Are you willing to lead the effort to organize your church to draw up a petition to Congress insisting they pass the Life at Conception Act? This is a vital moral issue, which is effecting every aspect of our national well being. The Bible is clear that God considers the shedding of innocent blood a grievous sin and by doing so the land is defiled. Psalm 106:38. How much longer will God withhold His wrath toward our nation for the wonton destruction of 55 million precious children, created in His image?
You may be wondering how the truth regarding the Roe-v-Wade suit came to light? I was greatly blessed to learn that Norma McCorvey freely admitted her transgression publicly after coming to saving faith in Jesus Christ. My friend, Jesus is the only way to God. He said, I am the way the truth and the life: No man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6. He shed His precious blood on Calvary’s cross for you and for me, the just for the unjust that He might bring us to God. Trust Him today, come to Him just as you are, a needy sinner who needs a glorious Savior. He will receive you, forgive your sins, save your soul, and make you a new creation, fit for the Master’s use.
