November Devotional

Thanksgiving

Give ThanksNovember is the month when we have deer hunting season, Thanksgiving, and the biggest Christmas shopping day of the year, the day after Thanksgiving. Many families have get-togethers for these events. We are abundantly blessed by "the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy." ( I Tim. 6:17b)

We thank God for life itself and for health, strength, and prosperity. Jesus Christ is praised, thanked, and loved by us for the eternal salvation He has provided through His death on the cross for our sins, and His resurrection again. Sometimes we don't realize how thankful we should be for things until we lose them: the use of our sight, for example. How beautiful nature is in the Fall with all the gorgeous colors. How wonderful it is to be able to see and hear our loved ones from the elderly to the new babies in our families.

Multitudes have been devastated by the tsunami or the hurricanes. How thankful we should be for our homes, jobs, schools, churches, stores, and the safety and security we have had. "Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits." (Psalm 103:1 & 2)
