October DevotionalLove LifeOsama bin Laden has said that the United States loves life, and his terrorists love death. That explains why there are so many suicide bombers. I think that the reason they love death is because they have little hope in this life. The afterlife is appealing to them, but they have been deceived regarding that afterlife. All they that hate me (wisdom) love death - Prov. 8:36b. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom - Prov. 9:10a. They do not have the fear of the Lord, consequently they do not have true wisdom, and therefore they love death. We love life. We are a pro-life organization. We believe that life should be protected from the time of conception until natural death. We believe that life is sacred, because it is created by God(Genesis 2:7). We believe that this life can be an abundant and blessed life through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus, the Good Shepherd, said, "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly" - John 10:10b. We also believe that the afterlife for a Christian will be an exhilarating blessing. Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him - I Cor. 2:9. If you have accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior, you have hope in this life and the afterlife. Not all Americans have a reverence for life like Christians do. Without salvation, many souls without hope take their own lives. Those who do not hold to the sanctity of life see no wrong in taking the lives of the preborn, the physically or mentally handicapped, and the elderly. They promote embryonic stem cell research, euthanasia, and withholding of life-sustaining efforts from those who do not meet their standards for "quality of life." Often, they justify their positions by proclaiming humanitarian motives. God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance - II Pet. 3:9c. Through Moses, God challenged His people to Choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live - Dt. 30:19c. The prophet Ezekiel spoke for the Lord when he told of God's desire that the nation of Israel survive, giving the picture of a newborn baby cast out into a field to die, finding it and saying, Live; yea, I said unto thee when thou wast in thy blood, Live - Ezek. 16:6. God created life. He nourishes life. He sustains life. God gives us an abundant life, and He has provided eternal life for us. What a contrast to those who love death. They are not godly, but Satanic. Jesus said that He is the way, the truth, and the life - John 14:6. Love life. What a blessing when a new life enters this world. Love babies. Love the physically and mentally handicapped. Don't avoid them. Don't pity them. Love them. Don't misjudge their "quality of life." They have qualities of life that most people have not begun to comprehend. They have a tremendous capacity for love. Love the elderly, especially when they are in the final phase of life. Our human tendency is to avoid the dying, because we are uncomfortable in such situations and don't know what to say or do. Just show love and compassion. Be there for them.
