April DevotionalGenesis 1:27So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. (Genesis 1:27). For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. (Psalm 139:13-14.) What a marvelous and wonderful thought to realize that we are made, created, woven together, by a creator God Albert Barnes states it like this “Thou art the owner of my inmost parts and passions: not the indweller and observer only, but the acknowledged lord and possessor of my most secret self. The word ‘reins’ signifies the kidneys, which by the Hebrews were supposed to be the seat of the desires and longings; but perhaps it indicates here the most hidden and vital portion of the man; this God doth not only inspect, and visit, but it is his own; he is as much at home there as a landlord on his own estate, or a proprietor in his own house.” That is God had made each of us unique as He so desired. Each of us is a creation of God’s handiwork. We are each uniquely different from any other person who ever has been, now is, or will ever be on planet earth. We are that special to God. The abilities or lack of abilities one has does not determine ones value. The unplanned preborn little baby is a unique creation of God. Yes, there are unplanned pregnancies and perhaps even embarrassing pregnancies. But that does not change the fact that the baby is a unique creation of God. How should we respond to unplanned or inconvenient pregnancies? Perhaps as you read this devotional, you are involved with an unplanned pregnancy. It may be you, who is pregnant, or your daughter, your girl friend, your granddaughter, or your son’s girl friend, or your wife. This may be a very difficult or embarrassing situation for you at this time. It may seem to be inconvenient for you or someone close to you to be pregnant because of career plans, education goals, economic or financial goals, or status among your friends or relatives. There are two options which are available to you. Obviously, if you are pregnant, you can keep this baby and raise it your self, or with the help of your parents or the babies father. You may also choose to have your baby adopted, and there are several good godly couples who would love to adopt and raise your baby. This is NOT giving your baby up, but investing in your baby where it can have a mother and a father. We here at Baptists for Life of Wisconsin are here to help you through this difficult time. Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. (Psalm 127:3) Perhaps you are thinking there is a third option for this baby and that option is abortion. However, abortion must NEVER be an option for this little one. This little one is a special creation of God, unique and different from any human being on planet earth. This little preborn baby is made in the image of God. Yes, this pregnancy may be unplanned, at a difficult time, under difficult circumstances. BUT, children, born or preborn must NEVER be an inconvenience to us. We have NEVER been an inconvenience to God, although we have sinned and hurt him deeply, yet He loves us. Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour (Ephesians 5:1-2). God loved us, loves you, so deeply that He gave His special only Son to die for you on a cross. Jesus Christ, died for you on a cross, for your sin, He was buried and rose again that you can have sins forgiven and eternal life in Heaven with Him. He sacrificed His life for you. Though a pregnancy may be difficult, unplanned, requiring sacrifices, and perhaps even embarrassing, a pregnancy, a preborn or new born baby must NEVER be an inconvenience to anyone. God hates the shedding of innocent blood (Proverbs. 6:16-17). People with limited abilities must never be an inconvenience to us. They have worth to God and that makes the difference. Remember, an abortion is killing the life of a pre-born baby. Though very small and undeveloped, it is still a baby, a human being, created by a loving and gracious God. You were never an inconvenience to God. He loves you and you must love that little pre-born baby, because God has so loved you. You may feel that you have sinned so greatly that there is no forgiveness. However, we have all sinned greatly against a loving and gracious God, but there is hope and forgiveness. In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; (Ephesians 1:7). A loving, wonderful, forgiving God is ready, able and willing to forgive you of your sin, give you an abundant life of joy on your earthly pilgrimage, and a wonderful home in heaven through out eternity. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16) Pastor Gene Green |
